Highlighting the plight of farmers devastated by floods in Kalyana Karnataka, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Wednesday accused the Congress government of ‘disappearing’ instead of providing relief.
He alleged that the government was spending hundreds of crores on caste surveys while thousands of farmers were reeling under losses across Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Bidar districts.
“Over 3.5 lakh farmers are in despair. Tenant farmers who invested lakhs on leased land have lost everything, yet CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar are nowhere to be seen,” Ashoka said in a post on X.
He further claimed that some farmers were dying by suicide and that tenant cultivators were not eligible for compensation. “This is the true face of the so-called pro-farmer Congress, a party that spends crores while farmers drown in debt,” he said, accusing Rahul Gandhi of remaining silent.
“Kalyana Karnataka is suffering due to the Congress’ betrayal. Every drop of a farmer’s sweat has been washed away by this government’s apathy, arrogance, and corruption,” Ashoka added.
